"Paris When it Sizzles" is a very exciting title that I hate to say has nothing at all to do with the movie it's attached to. The movie however is a ton of fun. It's one of Audrey Hepburn's less well known movies and it was my introduction to William Holden.
It plays on many of the common tropes and cliche's of the big blockbuster movies of its day, but you don't have to know anything about old movies to enjoy it.
One of the best parts about this movie though might actually be its trailer. It is probably one of the worst trailers I've ever seen, even among older movie trailers. I'll post the link down below, do yourself a favor and check it out before or after you watch the movie.

Marx Brothers Minimalist Art
After watching "A Night at the Opera" I really wanted to add a Marx Brothers piece to my minimalist art collection. It took some time to find the right picture to pattern it after, but I think I finally found just the right one and created this minimalist print. I mostly just make these for fun, but I sell them sometimes too. If you like it and would like to order one you can contact us at blackhatphotographs@gmail.com.

The Drive in Movie Review Episode 2: A Night at the Opera
Believe it or not this was the first Marx Brothers' movie I had ever seen! I always knew they were funny and was familiar with their style of comedy and even some of their favorite gags, but I had no idea what I was missing out on!
This review was actually based on a suggestion, if you've got ideas of movies we should review leave a comment and let us know!

The Drive-In Movie Review Espisode 1: Casablanca
Casablanca was the inspiration for this project so it seemed fitting to review it first. I was absolutely floored by this movie on multiple levels. It hit from historical, emotional and logical angles and there is not a single actor I would replace. Here is our very first Drive in Movie Review.

The Birth of the Drive In Movie Review
The Marx Brothers in "A Night at the Opera" |
My wife Bryn and I started the Drive in Movie Review back in 2014 and I feel like we've barely scratched the surface of what we wanted to achieve.
In case you don't know this yet old movies are often the best movies. The movies of today can still be great of course and I consume plenty of modern media, but in many ways old movies take the cake in my book. It's true old movies rarely get my adrenaline pumping the way new movies do, but they make me feel a much broader and more meaningful array of emotions. Also they are hilarious, and not always because they are supposed to be.
Check this movie out, it is fantastic! |
The reason we started this blog was to share the joy we find in old movies with new generations. As with all art forms there are winners and losers among old movies.
I'll be anything you know the quote that goes here |
Casablanca was a movie I had always heard about, I even know most of the famous quotes from it but I had never had a desire to see it because I had no idea what it was about or what made it good. The day that I saw it my cinematic world changed. It is simply incredible. I realized people needed a way to know more about these classic movies so they could see how great they are.
My hope is that one day people looking for quality old movies to watch will come and check our recommendations because I have no intention of putting up reviews for movies that aren't worth your time.
I hope you enjoy our content. Grab some popcorn and get ready to find some amazing classic movies.
